Playcraft Highways #1 set, VG, in box, no cars, circa 1958.  These precursors to Aurora HO vibrator car sets are quite hard to find since the Playcraft line was short-lived due to Aurora getting the bright idea to buy them out in '59.  The set box top has a circular mark as can be seen in the first photo.  Box top and bottom have no corner splits or tape, etc.  Inside all of the original track and accessory boxes are still present.  This is the set that originally held the highly sought after '58 Chevy Impala and Ford Lorry (truck).

Set contents include 1 box of 9" radius 1/4 curves with box in near mint condition, 1 box of 9" radius 1/4 curves with excellent box with just a slight cello tear.  Two heavy metal red steering wheel controllers are complete with fair boxes. The boxes side flaps are torn off but still present, and the cello window is missing on one box and there are tears on the other box cello.  Both controllers are missing the miles per hour sticker guages.  One still has the 'ignition key', the other one is missing.  Also a box of 'sundries' containing hookup wires with plug adapters and some locks and joiners is included, with box in nice shape.  It includes the special track joining tool as well.  No transformer was included in these sets.  The bottom of the track pieces read 'made in England' and 'highways' which distinguishes them from Aurora track.

The fifteen page black and white illustrated instruction manual has light wear but is complete and makes for quite interesting reading.  This set includes the original paperwork that came with the set also. The guarantee card, a paper mentioning the importance of keeping the track clean, and the corrugated cardboard packing insert are all present.

This set is sold primarily as a collectors item I make no guarantees as to whether the controllers work or not.  Price $500.00

Tyco Doomsday Duel racing set, 1997.   Straight from the 'drive to survive' driving school, this recent production set is just lightly used and ready to run.  Sets up in only 3.5' x 4.5'.  You race your candy plated blue and candy plated red 'Mad Max' type cars around the track crossing the scenic firetunnel, a cyborg fortress, and wild futuristic robot warrior cutouts, while trying to survive the big 'killdroid' plastic robot.  The robot has swinging arms that try to knock you off the track, and the robot moves back and forth as you try to make the jump and hit it with your car.  Time it just right to hit him in the head and you blow it's head off and deactivate the robot until the next race.  Totally!

The set includes the 2 'eye-dazzling' cars which run fine and look like new with just light chassis use, the 'killdroid' plastic robot- over 9" tall, all cardboard scenery, 1- 15" straight, 1- 9" terminal track, 1- 9" straight, 5- 6" straights,  2- 12" rad 1/8 curves,  4- 9" rad 1/8 curves, 5- 9" rad 1/4 curves, 2- transition sections that allow the track to go upwards, 1- jump stand, 2 controllers, 1 powerpack, 2 direction clips, 1 piece sandpaper, 5 guard rails, 3 double lane track clips, 3 supports, and 5 double lane track clips (one is missing).  Complete with all 5 pieces of paperwork including owners manual, with the original box in fairly good condition with suitcase type handle built in.  Robot uses 4 "AA" batteries, not included.  Price $50.00.
